While Axify's objectives are a great way to track metrics from the human, process, and technical axes toward your team's improvement goals, you may need to track data unavailable in these axes.
For example, you might want to combine the time invested on bugs, the lead time for changes, and the Net Promoter Score (NPS) to increase your users' satisfaction while increasing the speed of delivery. Although two of these metrics are available through Axify, the Net Promoter Score comes from an external source.
That's where Axify's custom metrics come into the equation.

To add a custom metric
- Go to the Summary page of the project and click on Objective creation.
- On the page that will be displayed, click on Add custom metric in the section provided at the bottom of the page.
- Name this new custom metric. This name should be specific to this metric, relatively short, evocative, and easy to recognize. For example, if you are conducting NPS surveys for several modules or tools you are developing and you want to track a particular score (e.g., the mobile version), you should specify this in the custom metric name.
- Indicate the type of unit measured by this metric. Depending on the type of metric created, it can be in days, percentage, or number of responders.
- Click on Add +.
- Your new custom metric will now be visible under the Name and Unit fields, and will already be selected to be added to your objective.
- Add the starting value (e.g. current NPS score for the mobile version of your platform) and the desired key result (e.g. target score). You can enter the desired values directly into the fields provided or click on the + and - buttons.
- Finalize your objective creation by adding more custom metrics or selecting Axify metrics, depending on your objective.
- When you're done, click Set Objective.
Your new objective is now visible on the Summary page of this project.
To update a custom metric
Let's go back to our example of the NPS score for the mobile version of our product. Over time, this rating will change depending on the score given by respondents. Therefore, we will need to update this custom metric in Axify.
Attention: If you update this data for one objective, the update will apply to all objectives using that custom metric. This means that if the NPS for the mobile version of your tool is used in multiple Axify objectives, updating the score in one objective will affect all others. Therefore, if you want to track the NPS score for multiple versions of your software, it is recommended to create a custom metric for each version and name them in a way that clearly differentiates them (e.g. NPS - iOS and NPS - Android, etc.) |
- Go to the project's Summary page and locate the objective for which the custom metric has been added.
- Hover over the custom metric you want to update and click on the icon that will appear.
- Enter the new value for this metric, either by typing it into the field or by clicking the + and - buttons.
- When you are finished, click to confirm the update. To cancel the update, click Cancel below the value field.
Your custom metric is now up to date. Repeat these steps regularly to track the progress of this data and support the achievement of your objective.
To edit a custom metric
Although the update procedure explained above can be considered a modification, we are talking about editing the name or the type of measured unit for a custom metric.
- Still from the Summary page of the corresponding project, locate the objective that uses the custom metric you want to edit.
- In the bottom right corner of the objective, click on Edit.
- Make the desired change, either the name for this metric or the type of unit concerned.
Psst! If you did not have the desired level of precision when you created your custom metric, this is a great way to add any specifications needed to properly monitor this metric.
- When you have finished making your changes, click Save Objective.
