Note: This feature is in Beta. While in Beta, it is available for your organization, but we intend to re-organize the hierarchy.
The overview provides a quick picture of your overall organizational effectiveness. Axify suggests a snapshot of your effectiveness with your flow metrics, and a snapshot of your software delivery performance with DORA Metrics.
Organizational effectiveness
We provide a snapshot about flow metrics on your deliverables.
The interesting part is that while we provide the engineering metric, we also provide a financial outcomes associated with it. It helps you to demonstrate the impact of initiatives, or the potential impact of an initiative.
Let's drill it down.
1. Time to Delivery
Time to delivery represents the time it takes on average to complete a deliverable, from its creation until it is marked as Done. The overview provides the average time based on your filters selection.
The average feature cost represents the current average feature cost. This number is calculated based on your FTE average cost and the estimated cost per month. For example, if it costs you 100k$ per month and you deliver 2 features, your average feature cost will be 50k$.
The average feature cost delta is the gain from the variation in your time to delivery. For example, if your time to delivery is reduced by 25%, we calculate your previous feature cost and compare it with your actual feature cost, allowing you to see the benefits of your initiatives.
You can explore further when you click on the "Time to delivery" tab, and filter the date range, by projects and/or by teams.
2. Velocity
Velocity represents the number of deliverables you complete on average per month. The overview provides the average completed deliverables per month.
The number of contributors assigned to projects is a unique collection we calculate by gathering selected projects, extracting assigned teams to these projects, and then extracting contributors from those teams. It gives a way to have a glance of how many contributors is actively working on your projects.
The delta on the right is the outcome of increasing your throughput. For example, if your throughput has increased by 522%, we calculate the number of effective contributors (i.e. the additional contributors you would have on your team without hiring due to the increased output).
You can inspect it further when you click on the "Velocity tab". You can filter by a date range, by projects and/or by teams.
3. Workload
Workload represents the average WIP of your deliverables. The overview provides the average WIP of deliverables per month. You can change the date range or filter by projects as well.
Time to empty backlog takes the actual number of remaining deliverables in your backlog and divides it by your current velocity. It helps you a quick snapshot if deliverables in your backlog are aging too old, and if the current capacity support the demands.
The delta on the bottom right takes your previous time to empty backlog (based on your selected date range) and compare it to your current time.
Teams Maturity
Axify suggests a quick way to evaluate your organization teams' maturity by evaluating the current delivery performance of all your selected projects.
You can inspect it further by clicking on the "DORA Metrics" tab. In this tab, note that you can group the view by projects or by teams.
When you group by projects, we show the delivery performance of all the assigned teams in the project You can add an additional filter on teams as needed.
When you group by teams, we show the delivery performance of each teams by combining all the projects they are assigned to. You can click on a team to see their delivery performance in each of their projects.
