Jira is used to calculate Process metrics from the Axify backend. These metrics are calculated exclusively from the issues of a Jira project synchronously with each Process metrics request.
Here is the permission that Axify requires:
- Browse Projects
User credentials are required to configure a Jira integration:
- URL of the Jira server to be linked
- User name
- API key
This data is then sent to the backend.
A Jira user must create the required API key and its accesses reflect those of the user who created it. This key can be revoked at any time by the user who created it or an administrator of your Jira account. Likewise, these same administrators can provide the Browse Projects permission. These permissions are reflected in the API key that is generated.
Once the integration is added to the organization, the user can choose to link a Jira project to an Axify project and have access to Process metrics.
Structure and data exchange
Once a Jira project is linked for integration, it enters a synchronization process. This process reads all Jira issues and outputs their history. Only the metadata (dates and id) is persisted in Axify except for the task names and status. The synchronization process is currently done every two hours (February 2022).
Frequently asked questions
Q: What happens if I unlink my Jira integration?
A: Your data will be removed from the Process Axis since no history is kept.
Q: What data is extracted from Jira?
A: Our Jira integration only needs read-only access to projects. The data used is the list of projects, issues, and their changelog.
Q: Is the Jira data persisted on the platform?
A: The issues are only retrieved to calculate the various metrics. Once calculated, the data is not saved.
Q: Is it possible to integrate with a Jira Server ("on-premise")?
A: Currently, only Jira Cloud Platform accounts are accessible by Axify due to the authentication requirements of on-premise instances. You can subscribe to our newsletters or consult our Announcements and Updates section to be notified of our latest developments!
